Hi

I've just created some cards on my PC and am now attempting to sync to the PC with my Android tablet.

I've followed the instructions in the documentation and attempted to sync to the PC. However, I get an error message saying server not found. I've even tried temporarily disabling my firewall but this didn't resolve the problem.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Tim

Hi,

It's best to try this first within the same network, e.g. both machines inside your home network.

Also make sure the server is running the latest Mnemosyne version, and that under 'configure mnemosyne' - 'servers', it says 'sync server running on ....'.

Also, double check ip addresses and passwords, and try without password.

Do you get any activity on the desktop client while syncing?

Hi, I've managed to sync to my Android phone and Android tablet. Thank you for your help.

However, I have 2 problems.

1 On the Android phone it will sync when I install the app but after that it will not give me the option to Sync.I can rate my answer but I cannot resync without uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

2 I used a Tibetan unicode font on my PC to input vocabulary. This will show up on my PC but will not do so on either my Android Tablet or my phone , a Samsung Galaxy S5.

Please advise

Thanks

Tim

Hi,

The sync option is in the app's menu (typically a button with 3 dots or lines).

Unfortunately, the app does not support custom fonts, but the MnemoDodo Android client has an option to convert cards like these into images.

Cheers,

In fact, the rendering is done by a separate plugin called Gogorender:
http://mnemosyne-proj.org/plugins/gogorender
It uses the Qt library that underlies Mnemosyne so the results are
high quality (practically identical to the desktop rendering) and
installation is simple (no additional dependencies).

I imagine that it could be adapted to work with the synchronisation
feature (it exploits Peter's idea of card 'filtering'). It can already
render fonts within 'desktop Mnemosyne'.

Unfortunately I do not have time to work on this anymore. The source
code is available in the plugin package. I could also push it to
launchpad if it interests anybody.

It is probably also possible to convert the font to svg images then use a javascript link those letters as images in the card.
