Hello,

I am running mnemosyne on a Mac with up to date software. (10.12.6)

When I click the "(De)activate cards..." button underneath "study", the entire program quits on me, and I am getting a pop up saying, "Mnemosyne quit unexpectedly." I had a similar problem a while back when clicking the "browse cards" button. But I was so early on with using mnemosyne at that point that I simply deleted the program and restarted.

But now I have over 1500 active cards so that would be rather heartbreaking and frustrating.

Anything I can do?

Thanks

Hi,

Do you run Mnemosyne 2.6? Is this reproducible?

Cheers,

Peter

Hi,

Yes I am running Mnemosyne 2.6. And yes the problem is "reproducible" in that the problem has continued to persist.

Thanks for the rapid reply!

Hi,

Please mail me your database and config.db privately, so that I can check if it works under Windows.

If it works there, I’ll forward this to Devin, our OSX developer.

I took a quick look today - I can't reproduce the problem with 0 active cards. When I get a chance, I'll try again with 1500+ active cards to see if I can reproduce and investigate further.

I was able to reproduce today. The error message was:

QWidget::paintEngine: Should no longer be called
QPainter::begin: Paint device returned engine == 0, type: 1
Segmentation fault: 11

I'm searching the Internet for clues to resolution.

Hi,

I am having a similar issue - was a resolution ever found?

Thanks,

Sarah

Hi,

It's an OSX-only problem. Devin is still working on it.

Cheers,

Peter

Hi Sarah & Calvin

I'm not really sure what the problem is, but I tried making a special build of Mnemosyne 2.6 just for macOS that uses a newer version of some internal software ("qt 5.10")

You can find Mnemosyne-2.6-qt5.10.dmg at https://sourceforge.net/projects/mnemosyne-proj/files/mnemosyne/mnemosyne-2.6/. It looks a little old fashioned for some reason, and it might have different bugs, but on my machine it fixes the issue with (De)activate cards.

Try it out and let me know if it works for you. You should be safe to switch between the Mnemosyne-2.6 app and the Mnemosyne-2.6-qt5.10 app if you don't like the new version.

Hey Peter,

I tried out the new version and now although the program doesn’t quit when I try and browse cards, it just makes a window that is sort of transparent with “browse cards” up the top and wherever I move it I just see whatever is on my screen behind it.

Thanks,

Sarah
