Hi Peter:

I have a chess diagram in my question. If the answer is long there is a scroll bar. It seems if I scroll in the answer box then some of the diagram in the question goes off screen. Anyway to keep the full question window to stay om screen.

Thanks again,

Gerry

Hi,

Normally, using the scroll bars on the answer box should not affect the scroll bars of the top window. However, Mnemosyne does try to make best use of your window size by reducing the Q if the A takes up a lot of space. So, simply making your window bigger will help.

Cheers,

Peter

Peter:

When reviewing, which is when the question window gets smaller is the answer is long, I don't see anyway to resize the windows?

Thanks,

Gerry

Hi,

I mean resizing the window of the Mnemosyne program itself, as you do in your OS.

Cheers,

Peter

Hi Peter:

I already have the program maximized. Unfortunately it is the question window that is smaller during review, the answer window/pane is much bigger. No way in the program to fix the question window at a certain size?

Thanks,

Gerry

Hi,

The philosophy here is to give maximum space to the Q before you press ‘show answer’, and maximum space to the answer afterwards, which I think makes sense for most cases. However, in the next version, because of technical reasons related to the move to Qt5, this will change to a fixed 50/50 split for the time being…

Cheers,

Peter

Hi Gerry,

You could use the Map card type (install / activate the Map plugin first). Within "(De)activate Cards" activate Recognition and deactivate Production. The Map card type then shows only one field (Question, Answer) at a time, so there is no resizing of question or answer field. Put your diagram into Blank Map as well as into Marked Map field, and your text into Location field. Blank Map field is then shown as question and Marked Map field together with the text as answer (within one field). If you don't want the diagram to go off screen when scrolling through long text, you could use HTML like this:

<div style="height:400px; overflow:scroll;">

a long text ...

</div>

Cheers,
Chris

Oh that's a very sad news! I was just searching for news about resizeing. Because even when the Q field is empty (just audio and no picture no text) the A field doesen't have enough space and I have to scroll it (that's annoying). Can i suggest the chance to divide the Q and A windows vertically rather than orizontally?
Thanks Andrea

Hi,

(Please put your reply at the top of a long quoted post, that makes it easier).

QA resizing is still there in the latest version, though a bit less accurate because of technical limitations. There is a config.py option to turn it of, though.

Cheers,

Peter

Here is a screen-shot of a card. The Q box is empty (just sound) and the answer box has 3 lines (urdu, picture and Eglish) it looks strange to me that it doesent adjust properly having enough room left. The text is not properly visible and I have to scroll up and down in order to see it.

Did you refer to this when you said that the resizing is still there but less accurate?

Hi,

That’s indeed what I’m talking about. Probably if the picture was bigger, it would have resized more accurately. I’m waiting for Qt to re-include webkit in order to be able to have exactly the same behaviour as in the 2.3 series.

Cheers,

Peter
