Hi,
I wish to suggest some improvement to the user interface of Mnemosyne.
It would be a good thing to add another step between assessing an answer and proceeding to the next card - as it was in Supermemo 98, for instance.
I mean that, in Supermemo after choosing the mark using buttons on the bottom of a window (screenshot https://goo.gl/uPn5mC), the user was presented with another set of buttons, which were: "Next repetition", "Stop" and "Cancel grade" (screenshot https://goo.gl/U3etl7). The user was then able to correct the grade (if he/she chose the wrong mark accidentaly - what happens quite often).
It would improve the repetition process even further when dealing with more complicated items (as on a screenshot - https://goo.gl/5wq2YA). In this example I have to:

1. Repeat the question after the sound-recording
2. Guess the missing part in an example sentence
3. Repeat a phrase in an answer
4. Read and understand all the example sentences in an answer field.

It would be a lot better if I am given an option to grade myself after uncovering the answer field, then keeping it on a screen for some time, and then proceeding to the next repetition item (without having to recollect the most suitable grade).

I hope you will consider this (I believe useful) improvement.

P.S.
I considered putting this suggestion to the idea list, but the description had to be too concise.

Hi,

I’m not sure I’m a big fan of this type of behaviour by default, because it slows down the review process enormously, e.e. more extra clicks for each card.

With respect to the misgrading, a much better solution would be to have an ‘undo grade’ option which you can click if you need it, rather than having a ‘confirm grade’ which need to click every time.

Still, this could be implemented as a plugin if this turns out to be popular with more people, but in order to assess the popularity, please do open a uservoice issue so that people can vote for it.

Cheers,

Peter

I agree that an "un-do" button would be very helpful.  On the Mnemosyne web site there are words to the effect that one should "not worry about miss-grading because you can just correct it the next time it comes up."  I understand the position, but for cards that have not been reviewed in a year or two and are now forgotten this is not a good option since they won't be seen again for years.  An alternative is to manually create a duplicate card when you realize you have miss-graded, but an "un-do" button would be much more convenient.

Thanks,

Lawson Robinson
