Would appreciate greatly is somebody can help me to bring my Mac Mnemosyne db backup into my recently downloaded Windows version of Mnemosyne. It seems to throw up an error message at the moment. An outline of the correct procedure would be fantastic. Cheers, Neil

Hi,

The easiest way is to copy the entire Mnemosyne data directory from one machine to next.

You can find the locations of this directory on the different systems here:

http://mnemosyne-proj.org/help/backups.php

If you want to keep on using both machines, syncing is more appropriate:

http://mnemosyne-proj.org/help/syncing

Cheers,

Peter

Thanks Peter, on review of my previous efforts the issue was the removal of a problematic Mnemosyne file was complete so was not being corrected with a  fresh download...clearing the AppData / Roaming folder of Mnemosyne allowed a fresh download and copy of backup files...all good now and very happy about it. Merry Christmas

Peter,

Sorry to be a problem but this message (attachment) keeps coming up and I don't know how to fix it.

I want to get back to using Mnemosyne regularly.

Cheers,

Neil

Peter,

I think I have created a problem and would like help to see if it can be corrected.

I was trying to sync my phone to my laptop and I think I did the oppposite and cleared all of my cards from the laptop...I assume I will still have backup to restore from but would like some guidance so I don't mess it up any further and completely lose my work.

Cheers,

Neil Salway

Hi,

First, make sure you have an external backup of your data:

https://mnemosyne-proj.org/help/backups.php

However, what has probably happened is that your cards on your laptop were originally not in the file default.db, which the android client expects. Chances are you can just do ‘file – open’ to reopen your original database on your laptop. Then, you can do ‘file – save as’ to rename it to default.db. Then delete /sdcard/Mnemosyne on your phone and try again.

Cheers,

Peter

Peter,

The file was where expected and I really just had to restore from backup and then re-run sync on phone and all looks good.

Extremely grateful for your assistance, I do hope to make a donation when I get back to work as I like Mnemosyne and use it almost daily.

Cheers,

Neil
