நீண்ட நாட்களுக்குப் பிறகு வரலாற்று அறிஞர் கடலோடி நரசய்யா அவர்களை பார்த்து பேசிக் கொண்டிருந்தோம் நானும் டாக்டர் கண்ணனும்.

91 வயது முடிந்து 92 ஆவது வயதில் அடி எடுத்து வைக்கப் போகிறார் இன்னும் சில மாதங்களில். ஆயினும் தொடர்ச்சியான எழுத்துப் பணி.. ஒவ்வொரு படைப்பும் தனிச்சிறப்பு வாய்ந்த படைப்புகளாக பொதுவாக ஏனையோர் பேச மறந்து அல்லது ஒதுக்கிய பல்வேறு வரலாற்றுச் செய்திகளை ஆவணப்படுத்தி தரமிக்க வகையில் நூலாக வழங்கும் பணியில் வெற்றி கண்டவர் இவர்‌.

தமிழ் மரபு அறக்கட்டளை பன்னாட்டு அமைப்பின் செயல்பாடுகளில் ஆழ்ந்த ஈடுபாடும் விருப்பமும் கண்டவர். இந்த அமைப்பின் தொடக்கம் முதலில் எங்களோடு தொடர்பிலிருந்து பல்வேறு பணிகளில் பங்களிப்பை வழங்கியவர்.

இவரது தடைபடாத நூல் வாசிப்பு தொடர்ச்சியான எழுத்து பணி ஆகியவை இக்கால ஆய்வாளர்களுக்குச் சிறந்த எடுத்துக்காட்டு.

It was a great day for me meeting Dr Kannan and the busybee Dr Subashini  Kannan and I exactly 23 years back met and visited UVS Library and RMRL when it was in the northern end of the city.

Suba I met first a little later and we have been close.

It was rejuvenation for me.
