Hello everyone,

I got information from your homepage about IAT. I am a clinical psychologist at Poverty Field in Japan. I want to test the unconscious bias of poverty. I would like to do this research because in the poverty field we don’t have enough evidence. But we don’t have a measuring tool for “unconscious bias of poverty” and I would like to utilize and develop IAT.

I was able to download the Simple Minno server and change the image. But I couldn’t measure the time. Therefore, I would like you to teach me how to measure time.

Hi Kosuke,

If you simply wish to incorporate an IAT in your study, I would recommend starting with our Qualtrics extension. Here is a step-by-step tutorial for using that extension.

If you still wish to start with Minno Suite, please describe your steps so far, so we could try to figure out what went wrong.

I'll just note that you can also use our platform without Qualtrics, using a simple php server that you need to set up. Here is the step-by-step tutorial for that.

I read the qualtrics tutorial in the previous answer. I know that qualtrics collects stats, but I don't know how to measure the time with a time-sensitive task on the downloaded Simplemino server. I would appreciate it if you could teach me.

Yes, the latency column is the latency for each trial (each row).

If you are using R for your analyses, then you can use the package 'IAT' to process your data. Here is the documentation. You'll need to code the congruent blocks (B3, B4) and incongruent blocks (B6, B7) in your data.

Hi Kosuke,

I'm afraid we don't have an example of a processing script at the moment. Could you please attach a link to your data (the file that you added as an image)? If I understand correctly, all the relevant information for the processing is located in the 'data' column. So you probably need to split the content of that column to several columns, separated by a comma (and also remove the curly brackets ({) and the quotation marks.

You have the 'latency' column in the raw data, and the D algorithm in the cleanIAT output. Please read the package's documentation for more information.

Now I could import the data using R-studio. Next, I'm trying to see if I can calculate the mean or variance.

By the way, I am studying unconscious bias about inequality. I want to measure unconscious bias using the image of the rich and the image of the poor. What is the procedure for selecting images in the tests so far?

Have a look at your mgr.js file. You have a message there that searchers for a template to use, and stores a text (that should be replaced by the user) saying 'Debriefing page or something'. See my screenshot below.

If you want to present participants with their IAT results along with some text, then you can use the example from the lastpage.jst file located in the study.race directory in your GitHub repository. This is the page that Project Implicit presents to our participants. Note that you'll need to replace the current content of the message task with something like this (hello.jst is a file that should be located in your study directory):

}.
