Dear Ramon & team,

I am currently using the “[6.7GB Size] - Lubuntu 20.04 x64 - Mininet-WiFi with P4” VM image and trying to reproduce the P4+Handover Demo from https://github.com/ramonfontes/tutorials/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-_gQ7I4RXcbut but I am facing some version incompatibility/missing modules issues in Step 1(running the starter code) and would like your help in understanding how to reproduce the demo on my setup.

Some details:

  1. When I run “make run” command I get an exception due to python print function incorrect parsing. I realized this demo was made for python 2 code while the VM Lubuntu 20.04.x64 has default python version of 3, so I edited the Makefile to run on python2.
  2. After re-running the “make run” again using python2 code I am getting “ImportantError: No module named mn_wifi.node” from /utils/run_exercise-handover.py code when calling “from p4_mininet import P4AP, P4Station, P4Host, P4switch”.

What are the pre-requisites for the demo that I might be missing?

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

Eduardo

Hi Eduardo,

Can you run "sudo make install" in the /mininet-wifi directory?

Dear,

I kindly request that you refer to and reproduce the scenarios from
https://github.com/ramonfontes/p4-scenarios rather than any others I
have created.

Best,
Ramon

Respected Sir,

I cannot reproduce it with the given readme linked to containernet on Ubuntu 16.04 exit with an error attached while executing the command "sudo util/install.sh -W". Please help. It will be very helpful if any prebuit VM is available.

You may consider upgrading to a more recent version of Ubuntu (e.g. Ubuntu 24.04), which includes a newer version of Python.
