Hi All,

I've uploaded the urgent updated setup of the build 21.10 for Borland C++ 5.8.2 at

Whatsnew:

2021/10/29: HMG Extended Edition version 21.10 (Update 2).
  * Fixed: Bug due to stupid typo in the internal function _GenActivateId()
           (introduced in the build 21.10).
           Contributed by Grigory Filatov <gfil...@inbox.ru>
  * Updated: WebCam commands processing for compatibility with Windows 11.
Warning: You should switch ON your camera in the 'Settings':
go to 'Privacy & Security' and navigate to Cameras.
If you want to allow apps to have access to your camera, make
sure that the 'Let apps access your camera' option is enabled.
Now you can select specifically which apps can access your camera.
           Contributed by Grigory Filatov <gfil...@inbox.ru>
           (see demo in folder \samples\Advanced\WebCam_2)
  * New: 'Draw Edge usage' sample.
Based upon a contribution of Pablo Cesar Arrascaeta at HMGFORUM.
Adapted for Minigui Extended by Grigory Filatov <gfil...@inbox.ru>
           (see in folder \samples\Basic\DrawEdge)

The upgrade to this build is high recommended.

Hi Grigory,
I did install this latest update right away hoping for some other improvements. I've been extensively investigating MiniGUI Extended the last couple of days while trying to understand why things do not work as expected and decided to share my experience in order to suggest improvements. This to make a start for newbies more attractive and trustful and avoid frustration which may hurt this project. The more this project will be received positively the more people will gladly stick to using it.
It took me quite a while to figure what goes wrong while testing the provided samples. This is the place to start first isn't it? Numerous samples won't compile (if not all) due to the provided batch files and it wouldn't surprise me if generally people will put it aside after a first bad experience. Most of my struggle was to fight against the overriding of my system variables by various batch files (compile.bat) where SET PATH or SET overrides the correct path (if not defined MG_BCC  set MG_BCC=c:\Borland\Bcc58 instead of if not defined MG_BCC  set MG_BCC=c:\Borland\bcc582, which is the correct path by default (in my case)). It is suggested while running hmg-21.10-setup.exe to add SET statements to AUTOEXEC.NT or Autoexec.bat while these are not available anymore in Windows 10. SET and SET PATH is done going through RUN sysdm.cpl  select Advanced Tab click Environtment Variables. My suggestion is to alter this instruction.
Assuming that the correct path for bcc is C:\Borland\bcc582 I suggest to run sed to alter all *.bat files prior to create the next setup.exe file.
http://forms.embarcadero.com/BCC32CompilerDownload is a dead link in the readme.txt file.
Regards

Hi Gerrit,
to give an answer to your reports, I suggest you edit only this file:
"C:\MiniGui\BATCH\minigui.cfg"
I've never had reference to the compiler in the path variable and I preferably use
files compile.bat or build.bat.
Grigory will probably give you a more complete answer, in the meantime try modifying
"C:\MiniGui\BATCH\minigui.cfg" even with notepad only

Thanks for reporting on the wrong link.

Hello team, ;-)
many thanks to all for keeping the project alive and updated!
Is there any chance, besides the setup.exe, to have new releases and updates
also in a zipped archive like f.e., minigui.7z (or  .zip) ?

thanks and regards,.
Pete

Hello Pete,

Yes, it is possible.

You can download the updated build as the 7z archive at

Thanks for your attention.

Thank you Grigory!
You know, zipped archives besides being smaller are more flexible
than the monolithic executable `setups`,
since you can extract only new or needed parts of the package
(for example, only the source files, or one specific sample et.c).
I understand it's a burden to have to prepare two packages, (setup and arcive)
so I cannot ask you to do it in a regular basis. I'm just used to look for archives
when I want to download open source software.
Thanks for your time!

regards,
Pete
