You may configure Minarca in many different way and no configuration a better or worst, it all depends on your needs.
That said, if you intend to backup a lot of stuff (read more than 1TB) in Minarca, I would clearly recommend using a LXC instead of a VM for Minarca to make better use of the direct storage. This way Minarca benefits from ZFS capabilities like compression, snapshot, metadata caching, etc.
I would not recommend a bind mount using Samba for Minarca. It's known to be unstable because of all the strange behaviour in samba: case-sensitive, lock access, filename encoding, etc. If you really want to bind mount, make sure to use NFS.
