Open Sails for Makers and Makers Boating Meetup

John Lorenz, I plan on having regular maker-friendly sailboating outings this summer.  We will be inviting others from the maker community to join us as often as possible. We will put out sign-ups closer to the time. Who is interested?

We also are hoping to persuade some other makers with boats to do some sort of waterfront meetup where you bring your craft of any size. Kayak, Sailboat, fishing boat, superyacht, or aircraft carrier, for a fun day on the water.  Date TBD. Likely on Lake Michigan and the inner harbor (the rivers connected to lake michigan) for smaller vessels. Who is interested?

As far as the maker-sails this is not tied to your membership standing or dues payment at maker space.  No purchase is necessary you just need to be an awesome person. We just want to share what we love.  We will adjust based on the availability of skilled crew, boats and weather, and interest level. John also taught a free sailing class over the winter at MMS.

I'm interested.  I enjoy sailing at the Milwaukee community sailing center and I frequently go sailing after work.  all are welcome to join me as well.  Can't recommend membership or classes there enough. 

Also infrequently sailing my small catamaran.

The first one is Saturday at 11am. The link above should take you to the details on the Discourse message board. We currently have room for 5 people. If you can please respond on that message board to simplify scheduling with the limited space. You will log in with the same username (email address) and password you use for paying dues. (wild apricot)

Later in the season, there will be more boats and room for more people just one for now. Thank you Captian John for hosting our first maker sail!

If anyone wants to learn sailing center is a good organization and i'm rated on all the boats, all conditions except the centerboards, can teach anyone who wants to learn. If anyone wants to do a group kayak trip that would be fun as well. This is nearby and looks fun. Also have two kayaks of my own.
