We spoke about a 1 gallon experiment in February at Still Hill and those who didn't attend here is the scoop. As a committee we decided we want to do something different and fun this year and came up with an experiment. We are hoping to do a large 10+ gallon batch maybe more depending on participants and split wort into 1 gallon batches to send home with members. Members can add whatever yeast they want and ferment out the beer for set period of time then bottle and return to a meeting with there batch. We don't want to dry hop or sour but want to use all different yeast strains on a base beer to show off the yeast.
While we are all working on our social distance skills please think about a few things.

Recipe submission for base batch.
Do you have any 1 gallon bottles to share with others?
Thoughts on how to make this work and maybe a submission sheet for the yeast of your choice so we don't double up.

Cheers and Be safe
Shawn

I may have some 1 gallon wine jugs but they don't leave much room for fermentation. I use these 2 gallon food grade buckets when I do 1 gallon batches.

We should probably brew something with out to many hops to give the yeast room to shine, maybe a blonde ale.

I have 2 extra 2 gallon fermentation buckets. I’d suggest a blonde also or possibly the Pilsner in the latest Zymergy magazine as a base.

I looked up the food grade buckets Paul suggested but out of stock and no delivery available at Lowes and Home Depot.  2 gallon sounds like way to go but finding them might be an issue right now.

I think I have 3 of them. I may or may not have lids anymore. I’d be willing to loan them out for this. I’ll look to see what I have for sure.

I think I have 3 one gallon jugs..not a lot of room for fermentation. Blow off tube works with it though.

Looks like I’ve repurposed all of my 2 gallon buckets for various use but I do have 3x 2 gallon grommeted fermentation lids.
