This morning I was thrilled to find antlion pits in my backyard, Corvallis.

That's so cool, Elizabeth!
I looked up some info because I didn't know very much about antlions. Apparently, only antlions in the genus Myrmeleon have larvae that make those pits for trapping prey (antions in other genera use other methods), and the only Myrmeleon species known to occur in Oregon is M. exitialis.
Here is what an adult looks like in case you get to see one...
