About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join the Real-Time Operations Intelligence Team within Morgan Stanley’s Enterprise Computing group. This team is responsible for streaming terabytes of data daily and building scalable frameworks that power large-scale ETL pipelines leveraging Snowflake and Hadoop.

As a Data Engineer, you will be part of a high-performing team that delivers data-driven insights in real time through advanced streaming architectures, distributed systems, and powerful visualization dashboards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize ETL pipelines using modern data technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Hadoop, Kafka, or similar).
• Stream and process large volumes of real-time data to support business and operational analytics.
• Work across the full development lifecycle — including requirements definition, design, coding, testing, and deployment.
• Understand and apply distributed systems architecture principles and performance trade-offs.
• Build and maintain dashboards and data frameworks to provide actionable insights for business users.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders and IT operations.
• Continuously learn and apply new technologies to enhance data pipeline performance and reliability.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years of application development or data engineering experience.
• Strong SQL programming and database design experience.
• Proficiency with Linux environments — developing and running applications on Linux systems.
• Solid understanding of distributed computing concepts and data architecture design.
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality solutions across the entire SDLC (design through deployment).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Must be local to Alpharetta, GA and available for a 3-day onsite hybrid schedule.

Preferred / Optional Skills

• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms (Azure, GCP).
• Familiarity with streaming frameworks such as Kafka, Spark Streaming, or Flink.
• Exposure to monitoring and real-time analytics dashboards.
