Is anyone else experiencing an issue performing a ctrl+H in MS Money sunset after the most recent rounds of patch Tuesday windows updates (8/2022)? I'm on Win10 Pro 21H1.

Woke up Wed morning computer had rebooted from updates I suppose, opened money file, it worked including ctrl+H... kept it open overnight... This morning (Thursday) ctrl+H would hang MS Money. I checked processes and saw Windows Defender Smartscreen would cycle through running at 30% for about 4 or 5 minutes at a time... take a break and do it again.

It's not a problem with the money file... I checked for any additional windows updates just in case, rebooted, created a fresh brand new clean money file, added one account and one transaction. Went back to the list of accounts and pressed ctrl+H... it just hangs...

I may reinstall MS Money Sunset to see if this takes care of it, just wondering if anyone else is now experiencing a similar issue?

I forgot to mention, I'm using Home & Business..... I don't really much use the business part. I think I'd like to convert to regular Sunset Deluxe since this is most broadly used by most Money users and for which if problems arise, will probably get the most attention.... In addition to the above, does anyone know if you can convert a Sunset H&B money file to standard Sunset Deluxe? Or will I need to export/import everything and recreate my scheduled transactions..... etc?

The most important question is where do you keep your Money data files? Is it in your Documents folder? You must not have your file within a protected system folder, nor in a folder that is being synchronized to an offsite location (i.e., OneDrive).

Personally, I never leave Money open. Is there a particular reason why you don't close it? If opening Money takes too long, there are posts that describe how to stop Money from trying to access the web during startup.

As to your question about moving from Money Sunset Business to Money Sunset Deluxe, just uninstall Business and install Deluxe. Then double-click your data file. You can just open your existing file in Money Sunset Deluxe, there is no need to "convert" it. Any transaction that has a business function will be converted to a non-business version.

Money data files are in my local documents folder.... It's the automatic backups that are in a syncing folder...

As far as keeping it open overnight.... No reason in particular other than I was working on it, stepped away, intended to come back, but did not.... So it was open overnight.

Good to know on the "conversion".... I'll just uninstall H&B and install Deluxe... maybe this will address my Ctrl+H issue as well...

After reinstall, replace the buggy mnyob99.dll    file.

https://microsoftmoneyoffline.wordpress.com/2012/12/02/windows-8-64-bit-version-compatibility-with-sunset-money/ has the story, but if you cl;ick the second "here" in the page, that will take you to where you can download the patched file.

I don't know if anyone can explain this.
When I sort my investment portfolio by account, the market totals of the individual accounts add up to the market total which is reported in position 1 of the status bar display. But when I sort by investment type, the subtotals do not add up to the market value in the status bar display. There is a significant discrepancy over 1%.

Are there cash accounts not included in the second subtotals.?

I don't know if I can explain this particular occurrence, or if I've seen it. But I have seen other issues with these views when sorting, etc. Money, to its final hurrah, had any number of defects like this that went long uncorrected or even acknowledged.

Not sure if this is the same problem that Leonard is having: when I use Advanced Search within Advanced Find MS Money locks up and requires a PC reboot to restart it.  Always been fine before.  Using Windows 11 and MS Money Pus Deluxe, version 17.01.120.3817.
Does anyone have a solution please?

That's odd, my version of MS Money Plus Deluxe is 17.0.120.3817 but no problems with Windows 10

John Dehnel,

Did this problem maybe start when you installed Money on your Windows 11 machine?  Did you do the mnyob99.dll replacement?

Download a patched version of the mnyob99.dll file and replace the one that comes with Money Sunset with the downloaded one.  The process to do this is described on this page:

and the patched file is here:

Let us know if that fixes the problem or if you need help in doing the replacement.
