In my MS Money along the top ribbon I have an investment called Portfolio, in it there is an Investments to watch (which has nothing in it as im not watching any) and another called Trading 212, under the trading 212 is showed the investment, the symbol is VWRP and description is FTSE All_world UCITS ETF (VWRP), this is fine, this is the investment i invest in.

I decided to set up a monthly transfer so under bills and deposits i went into NEW > INVESTMENT PURCHASE and started filling out the bits that i need to fill in, however under the investment section it says VANGUARD FTSE ALL-WORLD UCITS ETF and not the exact name that appears under the portfolio, that is the only thing there.

The naming is similar for sure, but surely MS Money should alter the name, it should be exactly as it appears in the portfolio. Is there anything i can do about this?

thanks, S

Looking into it further, the other accunt showing is VWRL

Basically when i go into bills & deposits >  new  > investment purchase, i see this -

When I go to my trading 212 investment account i see the FTSE option, the vanguard is in the list here, but i need it to appear in the  bills & deposits >  new  > investment purchase section -

Are you trying to enter a Buy for an ETF?

If you look at the details for that ETF, does it say the type is "Stock" or what? Check that the symbol is what you expect.

I enter my buys into the broker account register, so your technique is not something I can compare to what I do in the North American version. What I have run into is where it mattered if the investment was set to Stock or Other for some drop-down list.

The Portfolio view can be useful. Select to show closed positions and watch accounts. You can right-click an investment and choose InvestmentDetails.

You can't enter investment transactions into the Bills & Deposits - this never worked AFAIK

Sorry, yes you can enter Investment Purchases

In your screen shot you have not selected accounts in the transfer from and investment account

Hi Joe, thanks for reply,

The workaround ive had to do is this.

in my bils the transfer is set up to go to VANGUARD FTSE ALL-WORLD UCITS ETF

once i enter it in the register is goes to the trading 212 (cash) area, from there i make the purchase into the trading 212 investment, from there i can chnage to  FTSE All_world UCITS ETF (VWRP),

Ive tried everything chnage it before it gets to that point and the pp will not allow it, ive deleted all the investment and added again, no joy, if i manually enter  FTSE All_world UCITS ETF (VWRP in the bills areas, i thin kit says something like VWRP already exists. I had to do a bit of a rescue on the file last night as it seems to screw everything up. I even created a new file called test and that didnt work as intended, i suspect it is me and my lack of knowledge of the app but it does seem strange

I would do it this way.
Presumably the funds are coming from a bank account.
From that account, transfer it to the trading212 cash account that is linked to the investment account (you did tick the box to track cash transactions didn't you?)
Go into the trading212 investmdnt account and enter a buy transaction for the relevant stock. That will take the funds from the cash account.
BTW vwrl is the income paying version of that stock, vwrp is the accumulating version. I would use vwrp if its in an isa, but vwrl if its not in an isa as its easier to record dividends for your tax return than to account for the increase in value in vwrp.
If you get dividends that aren't automatically reinvested, enter them in the investment transaction register, transferring the funds received to the linked cash account where it will be available for purchases.
