Guys-

I would like to know which is the best wysiwyg editor for meteor. My application targets mobile and it should be possible to input an image.

Please let me have your inputs.

Thanks & Regards

Babu Subramanian

From my survey of wysiwyg editor for meteor I found the following:
1. babrahams & aloha: don't have img input
2. mcrider:bootstrap-wysiwyg: can't choose color
3. WYSIHTML5 has very limited features.
4. summernote:summernote and Frola are good but Frola is not free.

summernote:summernote appears to be the best. It has maximum number of stars (12) although WYSIHTML5 has more number of installations (but no rating)

Would like to hear from guys who have tried these editors.

Regards

Correction: You can input images in aloha. You can enter special characters, subscript & superscript.

You can't select align, indent, font-size table and color.

I'm using bootstrap-wysiwyg (https://github.com/mindmup/bootstrap-wysiwyg/) and I'm pretty happy with it. I have looked into WYSIHTML5 as well, but decided against it (but I don't remember the reasons anymore).

But limited editing (never tried colors) is enough for my case and I don't need to support old browsers.

The only headache is, that Meteor doesn't treat contenteditable div's as input (like a textarea), so I had to disconnect the contents from the reactivity mechanism and do scheduled updates instead.

Dirk

I have tried several wysiwyg editors in the past months: Redactor, WYSIHTML5, bootstrap-wysiwyg, Aloha, and more.
I have finally selected CkEditor for my application.
Notice that rich text edition in browser is till not a mature technology, and that combining this with Meteor reactivity requires dexterity.

Dirk & Steve-

I'm curious to know whether you guys have used them in mobile as the editors will occupy so much real estate. Since the soft keyboard also occupies space I wondered whether it is possible to use such editors in mobile.

No mobile usage on my side. But I could imagine a scenario where you hide the toolbar until needed, e.g. touch a button to open it, or arrange it horizontally.

Dirk
