Hi guys, trying to calculate sum of a calculation field and a numeric field gives invalid expression

I am using the calculation to give an aggregate sum across the two distinct dependent fields, one euro one a calculated rate conversion from GBP

both fields are dependent fields, not sure if that has anything to do with it.., the problem only seems to be related to the calculated amount if I remove the numerical part of the calculation, thanks for any help

first calc is #{foreign curreny amount}*#{exchange rate}

the main one that gives the invalid is #{calculated amount}+#{amount}

the amount is just a numeric not a calc

sorry those didnt upload very well, the calculated dependency is ok but the numeric is not, I doubt this makes any sense?

think it probably just doesnt like not having one of the fields completed? euros don't need calculating as its the default currency, only gbp, I just want it to spit out a balance :(

You can share your database in public mode without forgetting to:

- authorize reading

- authorize writing only to the owner

- authorize creation

- allow delete only to the owner

Was gibt das " Erste Berechnungsfeld "zurück ( Text , Datum, Zahl , ). Die 2 Berechnung kann mit Text Nicht Rechnen , also muss die 1 Berechnung auch eine Zahl zurück geben .

What does the "first calculation field" return (text, date, number,). The 2 calculation cannot calculate with text, so the 1 calculation must also return a number.

Wondering if you sent a screenshot of your code/formula by going to "edit library" , selecting the calculation field and/ or field you are having trouble with..ie: edit field... it might help Gilles and Ernst help you better?

Auf denen Bild von deiner Datenbank ist die dritte Berechnung, die basiert auf das letzte Feld . Das ist aber ein TEXT . Somit ist die dritte Berechnung nicht gültig. Da sich II Berechnung auf III stützt ist auch diese nicht gültig. Ändere dein letztes Feld in eine Zahl.

On the picture from your database is the third calculation based on the last field. But that's a TEXT. The third calculation is therefore not valid. Since II calculation is based on III, this is also not valid. Change your last field to a number.

Yes I think the problem comes from "Exchange rate" which is a text ...

While in the ER base it is a number and Auto-Fill the line as a text ....
