PhD Program - Call for applications
The HuME PhD program -- The Human Mind and its Explanations: Language, Brain and Reasoning -- jointly promoted by Scuola Universitaria Superiore IUSS Pavia, the University of Milan, and Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa is advertising a total of 7 three-year fully-funded PhD scholarships.
Among others, research topics also include philosophy of mathematics, logic and philosophy of logic, epistemology, foundations of probability, logic for practical reasoning and Artificial Intelligence, and formal semantics

A total of *7 three-year fully funded scholarships* is available (starting October 1st, 2026):
- *5 scholarships* eligible for research projects in any of the program's research fields
- *1 scholarship* on the topic: The Epistemology of Mathematics: Fallibility, Technology, Know-How
- *1 scholarship* on the topic: Neurosymbolic Verified Learning for Agentic Pipelines

(Increased) Salary:
- 18.645,63€ gross annual amount per academic year (~1372€ net monthly amount)
- 1.864€ for research expenses per academic year
- 50% scholarship increase for up to 6 months stay abroad
