Huron and Clouded Skipper - Ivy Creek (Charlottesville VA) - Apr 23

On Apr 23, Colleen and I hit up Ivy Creek Natural Area just north of Charlottesville VA.

Notable sightings were a female Huron Skipper (nee Sachem) nectaring on Blackberry and a Clouded Skipper who did not want to pose for photos.

I don’t think Huron Skipper is in anyone’s lexicon as a common name. It’s Huron Sachem (which I find redundant but unfortunately nobody asked me). I would prefer the western species to keep *its* common name of Field Skipper, which after all is the translation of campestris.
