I've travelled on the 544 before, and it is a wonderfully scenic route - so much so it outweighs the fact your conveyance will be a Sprinter. There were 19 people on my first journey, pre-Covid (I perched on the step in the aisle for the first part of the journey) and 14 on my journey on 26th March, which isn't at all bad and suits the vehicle size nicely. That said, I highly recommend a journey on this, or given the similarity of operating areas, the 541 or 542 services.

Having caused quite a stir simply by being there (It seems as though 'unknown characters' are a rare event on this service), I declined to ask if I could take any scenic photos earlier in the route. But having worked out who the driver was (owner of several preserved East Kent vehicles), I asked, and got!

Here's Sprinter BG63 VUX at Sutton church, on 26th March.

Chris

a great shot - and while I've not travelled on the route, I've driven through the area and it is very pretty (and very remote, in parts) indeed.

A good challenge would be trying to get a shot of the bus by the ancient Barfreston Church and the church bell in the yew tree - although I suspect the curvature and narrowness of the road might make it impossible.
