Hello md380tools supporter and users,

this thread will be started as a place for some additional information about new md380tools builds bringing new functions to all of us.

It will not be complete, but I'll try to give us a place for some user hints or feature explanations to major changes.

==============================
PR #697 opened 8 days ago by DL2MF

==============================

My latest build has passed the continuous integration and should be available in the official master very soon. This brings TalkerAlias (TA), currently available only on netmon4, also to the normal RX screen during/after receiving a signal with TA. See instructions below, how to enable this feature.

Additional change notes to this build:

This build brings some changes to the md380tools setup:

  • Submenu: "Show call" (former userscsv): select source of callsign display (CPS, UserDB, TalkerAlias)
  • Submenu: "Date format": new option "TalkerAlias", renamed "Alt Status" -> "Lastheard"
  • Submenu: "Sidebuttons" if you change an option, your setting is confirmed instead only "Function set"
  • Submenu: "Backlight": options Level low, high, timer moved to this seperate submenu

To enable TA in statusline, select option "Talker Alias" from setup menu #3.
To enable full screen TA display select option "Talk Alias" or "TA & UserDB" from setup menu #4.

Due to the legacy keyb layout, the netmon screens are spreaded around, you found them on:

key "4" - netmon4 - lastheard and TA (if received)
key "2" - netmon5 - lastheard + LH channel and page status mark >>>>> channel << #n after 9 lines
key "0" - netmon6 - channel LH list, shows, where activity was received (helpful on longer monitoring)

2017-02-25:

  • solving build issue with D02.032 in netmon.c

2017-02-24:

  • solving all merge conflicts and returning to legacy keyb layout

2017-02-18:

  • add talker alias option to date format submenu (additionally to alt status)
  • show talker alias on status line if received valid info
  • display users.csv entry with talker alias in name info (line below callsign & name)
The Zero-key "Null" will null/clear the syslog, other keys swapped remain in the same function blocks without unintentional causing a function or deleting something.

2017-02-17:

  • New netmon5 shows mixed channel name (when channel changes) / lastheard calls / lh page count
  • New netmon6 shows last channels with activities (to give you an idea where your lastheard were RX)
  • Fixed typo in addl_config.c (md380_create_main_menu_entry)
  • Organized all backlight settings in a seperate submenu in md380tools menu instead of 3 main entries

I posted a question just before you did Mike.

Question is, where is the new codeplug placed for the md380-dfu to read/write to the radio? Is it placed in the same folder?
This is a grey area for many of us.
Thanks,

Hi MD380Tools guys,

many people were are asking me about the new functions in my latest build and request for binary images. Until the latest PR has been merged, you can't get them without self-compiling.

To bring this PR to a final decision, I made an ultimate md380tools burn-in-test with my MD390/G and made a video about the radio today just shared on YouTube.

My radio is running this build, flashed 2017-03-04 now in a 24/7 non-stop burn-in-test since 2017-04-07 in permanent operation. That means, the radio was not powered off since more than 1 week - ~200 hours of continous operation.

I've been using this radio excessive a week ago on a trip to FUNK.TAG Kassel operating many repeaters, simplex operation on the exhibition, scanmode the whole day/week from last Sunday to this Saturday, permanently powered ON and put to the dash charger during the night.

grafik
The pagecounter #232 yesterday afternoon = 2320 lines logged

There have been recorded > 2000 callsign entries in the Netmon4 - LH list, hundreds of channel entries in the new Netmon6 - Channel list. I've been using the radio on a business trip, in portable operation and at home - many hours RX/TX without any issues, no hang, no stuck, no reboot. To avoid any issues also 3 friends of mine are using a build on MD380, RT8 and another MD390/G without any trouble and are very lucky with the new features.

Hello, wondering if this new firmware is good for the Tytera md380 no gps. It would be nice to have these new features on md 380. I tried it but it has several bugs, aka the talk does not work and the netmon lock. Thanks de IT9CNS.

Calogero,

The new firmware works with the MD380 with no GPS I have been using it and have no problems. Use the version of the new firmware identified as being for the no GPS radios. If you are using Warren KD4Z’s virtual appliance to install the firmware use the “flash” command and NOT the “flashgps” command.

Because the thread was captured to non-firmware related discussions, I'll not continue posting information about firmware changes and new features here.

Those might be found on the follwoing website related to the project:  https://md380.org/

Information on my development fork can be also found on my github repo: https://github.com/DL2MF/md380tools

Be sure to switch to the current branches for specific features, until they have not been merged to the master!

Mike there are a lot of amateurs who use your firmware, top firmware that's just a little dot. Is the screen similar to that of KD4Z with that red line in it? Then it would be a top firmer that I think better than KD4Z.

And another question, like PD0ZRY, you can put the firmware in standby name and link such as DL2FM-S13.bin and DL2FM-D13.bin that makes it easy to load and install it through a tool.

I reacently moved into a md380. I use it for work, my fire deparment, and Ham. I just flashed 1-04-18 version of tools. I'm looking to find a flash that will let me do two tone decod. Like a pager. I would like it to monitor quietly till it decodes 810.2 and 483.5 on vhf analog then start playing audio that is on the frequency. If any one can point me in the direction of some additional information I would appreciate it. Thank you. You can email me @ thejust...@gmail.com
