Hi Dr. Fang,

I hope you are doing well.

I have MCXlab installed and working. I tried to learn from the following article and to reproduce the similar results using MCXLAb.

https://opg.optica.org/boe/fulltext.cfm?uri=boe-10-7-3605&id=414828

subsection 2.1.2. Angular distribution of illumination
&
subsection 2.1.3. Quantitative phase reconstruction

Please, can I be lucky enough to get some hints or a detailed workflow that I can follow to simulate the source lighting distribution S(u)? and how to use it to perform quantitative phase reconstruction.

Thank you so much.
Hassan

hi Hassan,

user-defined photon launch angular distribution has been supported since mcx v2024.2

see built-in demo script

https://github.com/fangq/mcx/blob/master/mcxlab/examples/demo_mcxlab_launchangle.m

help information on how to set cfg.angleinvcdf can be found in the mcxlab's help info

https://github.com/fangq/mcx/blob/v2025/mcxlab/mcxlab.m#L130-L148
