Hi all,

I think I´m having issues with .sat, .step, .brep input files for McCAD. In short, I´m not able to do anything in McCAD, or to follow tutorials with own files as I´m getting SISGEV errors. But when I use provided tutorial files everything works fine, decomposing, MCNP input file writing etc.

I think it´s the input file standard fault. If you can provide me with the information what software did you use to produce that tutorial files? I´m not able to use AutoCAD or FreeCAD .sat files, nor .step files.

Thank you in advance.

Dear Josip,

We use normally STEP format for importing CAD geometries. As I understand you already know how to import the CAD into McCad. If you are going to use McCad, you need to convert your geometry into STEP format before doing this.

Best regards,

Yuefeng

Dear Yuefeng,

I understand .stp is import format for McCad, but still I´m having problems on the conversion side. My issue is probably intermediate conversions to get from rvt. or .sat to .stp where files lose information. I´m currently working in Autodesk Revit software, and searching for a workflow to successfully convert .rvt file to .step file that McCad can successfully decompose and write MC input file (CSG).

That is why I asked what software did you use to model those tutorial files (Berylium1.stp, CoolingPlate1.stp etc.) so I could maybe use the same workflow.

Thank you in advance,

Josip

Hi all,

Summary: So I've gotten information that Revit model is not 3D CAD file and cannot be processed with McCAD (thank you Lei Lu), at least not the kind McCAD requires.

Possible solution: Convert .rvt Revit file to mesh geometry, and then convert it back to "real" 3D solid. (edges, vertices, surfaces).

Thank you for the effort.

Josip
