Hi, since so many things seem to bring up differences of opinions and i'm such a fan of the democratic process-- majority rule-- i would like to put this before you all.

I just got a call from a respectable Humboldt historical person, who said she had a writer from National Geographic who wants to do an article on the Lost Coast in March (we've been covered before, but it's been decades), and she wanted to connect him with me.

Please consider these options:
1. I  contact him and say Yes oh Yes please come pay attention to us and make us look really beautiful and send some people to our struggling businesses and our dwindling economy and population, etc.

2. I politely decline, figuring Ivan is going to do as he wishes anyway, and so are others; but bow out myself as i am really not that interested in helping someone whose goal is money, prestige, and exposure for himself and his magazine, probably not really an intention to keep the "Lost Coast" lost. (Consider though that the risk in this is that he might talk instead with people who are clueless, rather than anyone really interested in protecting certain cherished values and with historical facts at hand.)

3. Tell him to get "lost" because all more people and growth will do is change everything about the Valley that we love.

Please reply either to me or to the whole group-- a private or public response.

Simple-- 1, Yes; 2, You do you, leave me out of it; 3, No-- bad idea.

I will adhere to the votes counted and contact the writer-- or not-- by this weekend.

Thank you!
~Laura

PS Another idea-- give me your name and number and i could pass it on to him, if you think you want to speak to the world through (Inter)National Geographic; and maybe he'd meet with you!

1.  Hopefully he will drive carefully, not break an axel, stay for breakfast and whatever else is needed to do a lovely article like last time.
