Tube to tube sheet mock up qualification

Dear members,

We are going to carry out a Mockup Procedure qualification for T-TS joint as per ASME SecIX. what are the test required to carry for the qualification. I hear from a TPI that RT, Tear test & pull out has to be carried out, whereas ASME Sec IX & Tema class 'R' are not talking about the above said tests. 

Is the above said tests required? If so, the as per which standard?

ASME SEC IX will tell only PT and Maco Examination is to be done, If you have as per ASME SEC IX than it’s not required. Client spec. will speak about (Pull out, Tear Test etc.) these test, Pls check if you have any client specification applicable.

Hi Silambarasan ,

If the welding is for ASME Sec VIII Div -1 Vessel, then test Macro ( for MLP check ) , PT, Visual. This is enough as per ASME-IX QW - 193 requirements.

Hardness & RT are Special Tests as per Client requirements only, inorder to judge the hardness value . Quite Stringent too.

Pull out & Tear tests are required for Sec VIII , Div-2 Vessels, If I am not mistaken.

Do you have Client Spec to weld this MockUp ?

Read again ASME-IX,  QW 193. 1 to 3 for MockUp testing requirements and you must read QW-288 for Essential Variables to follow during Qualification.

ASME Sec-IX, QW-193.1.1, Visual Examination is also must.
