ss spiral wound gasket to cs flanges

Can we use SS spiral wound gasket(316L-inner Ring) for the both CS connecting flanges, I am working in a petrochemical where all the spiral wound gaskets used were SS.Do any code specifies the use spiral wound gasket to particular materials or is it a choice of owner/user.

You can use the SS spriral wound gasket with 316L inner ring for CS connecting flanges.

Many oil companies have that as part of their piping specifications, and it does not compromise any codes or standards.

 

Because you have small amounts of stainless steel in large carbon steel piping systems, you will basically not have a galvanic corrosion problem.

You have to check the eventuality of galvanic corrosion due to difference of potential.

reason for do so is graphite lining on spiral lining gasket has perfect contact with CS raised face.

if cost permit you can use.
