API 650 & 653

Dear All,

I hope I will get good response from Material & Welding experts.

The requirements for base materials in Tanks.

If base material (plates during receiving inspection) shows some corrosion or defect, which ones would be the recommended inspection

methods and acceptance criteria.

May be is included in API standard or in ASTM standard for each material. (For example A516 gr.70 or A283 gr.C).

Please which code shall i refer, please give me response in details.

Hi Kiran,

Refer API-650_2014,

Section-4 (Clause 4.1.2 , 4.1.3 & 4.1.4) for all materials.

Clause :- 4.2 for Plates material specification requirements.

Can you please explain me more regarding corrosion or defect, inspection methods and acceptance criteria.

And for your information i don't have experience in API Tanks.

So for please explain me in details. And you have not addressed API 653.
