Hello,

I find it bit strange to receive Ferrite no. above 8 or up  to 11 some times, while using FCAW weld overlay on CS surface. What are the reasons behind these.
My requirement is 3 to 8 % only.
Can  I have any solution for this ? .
PWHT  will be there in my job.
What should I do to restrict up to 8 % only, with same process.

Warm Regards

High dilution rate might be a reason

You have not mentioned about no. of layers build up. Is it two or three.

With two layer deposit, the ferrite  could be more.

Also check on a typical SS or CS plate the ferrite content of weld metal as per SFA 5.4

That may give an idea about filler wire..

Weld parameters like Amps, Voltage and stick out used is also important.
