Dear Gents

If we have WPS with two materials, P-1 to P-8 and impact test required,
According to ASME B31.3, we can apply impact test on one side only ( carbon steel) ?
Or shall be applying impact test on SS with CS ?

Please advise

Thanks,

Hany Nabil

Impact test is applicable for weld metal and both heat affected zones. You follow B31.3 to the letter

Dear Mr. George

Thanks
But I think impact test required on minimum tensile strength only.

Can you explain me which reference article in ASME B31.3

Thanks

According to ASME B 31.3, Impact requirements based on Table 323.2.2 and for P1 & P8 materials as specified in that section. Consider the base metal weld & HAZ requirement and exception according to the above table.

If weld requires impact test then the below acceptance criteria apply.
