The equivalent ASTM material for EN-10025 - 2 (S275 J2) is ASTM A572 Grade 42. Both materials have a minimum yield strength of 275 MPa, and a minimum tensile strength of 500 MPa. The impact toughness requirements are also similar, with EN-10025 - 2 (S275 J2) requiring a minimum impact energy of 27 J at 20°C, and ASTM A572 Grade 42 requiring a minimum impact energy of 27 J at -10°C.

There is one big difference: The EN 10025-2 steel is CE marked according to EN 10025-1. For steel construction products to be used in Europe, EN 10025-2 steels need to be CE-marked, and cannot be substituted to something “alike”.
