Dear Sir/Expert,
As per Design requirements Sphere materials shall be ASME SA537 Cl.1 2013Ed. but we received ASTM A537 Cl.1 2013Ed. materials at site.because of that client needs materials comparison Form and it shall be sing by AI (Authorized İnspector )
As per AI, requirements Melting Method, Melting practice, Manufacturing's process, De oxidation shall be in the Materials comparison Form.
But MTC mention only Fully Killed and Fine Grain Practice steel, Vacuum Degassed.
So requested to please be advice how we get all the AI requirements from MTC .
Materials Comparison Form & MTC attached for ready reference.

Dear Pinaki,

The Material comparison form is your client standard format / requirements. Which at this stage may not be fulfilled completely, what ever details as required in your client format for compliances shall have been addressed during the procurement of the plates.

Also, your client requirements as given in the form are non-mandatory or supplementary as per the particular material specification (A537-2013) and A20.

Hence, you may ask waiver from your client on these requirements and the it shall not be any problem for AI to accept the plate material.

Mr Boxi,

Advise NISCO to replace all the MTCs as per ASME material specifaction.

As a Contractor / Buyer you would have commented on the draft MTC before printing as a final copy. You would have atleast specified on PR and PO.

Now only the option to replace the MTC, Client will not accept the deviations. Hence, disciss with NISCO for the new MTC as per ASME Section II.

Mr Boxi,

Ok, request NISCO to provide COC (after referring the MR/PR/PO about material spec and grade requirement), sample COC was attached (from other manufacturer) for your information.

Please ensure the below points to be indicated on the COC:

1. Material Specification as per ASME Section II Part A: 2013 shall be ASME SA 537 / SA 537 Class 1

4. Manufacturing Process and material condition
4.1 Steelmaking Practice — The steel shall be killed
and conform to the fine austenitic grain size requirement
of Specification A 20/A 20M.

 5. Heat Treatment
5.1 All plates shall be thermally treated as follows:
5.1.1 Class 1 plates shall be normalized.
5.1.2 Class 2 and Class 3 plates shall be quenched
and tempered. The tempering temperature for Class 2 plates
shall not be less than 1100°F [595°C] and not less than
1150°F [620°C] for Class 3 plates.

6. Chemical Requirements (ask also to indicate Ceq. compliance)
6.1 The steel shall conform to the chemical requirements
shown in Table 1 unless otherwise modified in accordance
with Supplementary Requirement S17, Vacuum
Carbon-Deoxidized Steel, in Specification A 20/A 20M.

Mr Boxi,

You have to satisfy AI that re certification is meeting requirements of construction Code viz UG-10(a) (2) of ASME SecVIII-I

On the other hand compare requirements mentioned in ASTM A537 & SA537 for Melting Method, Melting practice, Manufacturing's process, De oxidation; if all are same for both standard then we can justify meeting SA537-2013 as well

Regards

Aly
