Hello everyone,
Can anyone help me in finding out problems arising during impact toughness testing of the weld joint of the pressure vessel.

Thank you,

Dear  Shahil,

In order to help you identify the problem, please report the following:

1. For the Charpy impact test, was the UG-84 ASME VIII-1 instructions followed?

2. What were the values of the impact test in ft-lb?

3. What was the test temperature?

4. Is the WPS qualified with the supplemental  Charpy impact test?

5. Regarding the sample: is the surface flat and does it appear shiny?

6. What welding process was used to make this pressure vessel?

7. The base material was selectionated as SA-516 Gr.70N?

If the value of the impact toughness test does not match with the standard value, then what will be the further process?

I agreed with Customer Care
Addition, I found problem in the PQR with actual test specimens that the subsize and reduction temperature not complied with UCS-66. You also check it out at UG-84.

If your question is inquiring about were you can find UCS-66 and UG-84, seek out Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME Section VIII Division 1, Rules for construction of pressure vessels.
You can purchase the latest edition for the above mentioned at www.asme.org
Cheers.....
