Respected all experts,

I have one welder who qualified in API standard (for line pipe,gas field)with DT reports but now we want to do his new qualification for station piping as per Section ix Standard,for his qualification destructive test again require or not.
Or radiography base we can qualify to him.

You can qualify your welder with guided bend tests or radiography, although there are some P numbers that require only guided bend.

As per ASME SEC. 9, a welder can be qualified by volumetric testing method(RT).

HELLO SENTHILCUMAR,

 

Before proceeding with the requalification of the welder under ASME Section IX, it should be verified if this welder qualified under API 1104 covered the essential and non-essential variables requested by ASME Section IX. If there is equality of criteria in the welding variables and the DT & RT, just by performing an x-ray as a test, it is valid too.
