EPDM RUBBER SHEET VS BUTYL RUBBER SHEET

Dear Experts,

  For cold insulation we have contraction joints where we use butyl rubber sheet used as external bellow. But cost effective we are using EPDM rubber sheet which is from same family and can be folded same as butyl rubber. 

Can we use EPDM, experts share you opinions

Butyl and EPDM are products of the good quality. They are very flexible, have high elongation and tensile strength which makes them both long lasting products.

Butyl is more flexible because it contains more than 50 percent butyl polymer.   EPDM can work up to - 50 deg c while Butyl up to -60 deg C .  Don’t find any problem with EPDM.
