Greeting ALL,

On my project we are doing PWHT on Thickness basis, Pipe thickness is 30.18mm
,Will we do PWHT of Welded Supports as per B31.3?

Generally the Pressure containing Pipe Thickness is taken as the Governing thickness when welding non-pressure part support.

But in the latest version of code there are some exceptions for some P-No's and if you could be specific it will be clear.

Thanks & Regards

Preheat to 95degC prior to welding and use multilayers to avoid PWHT for P-1 material.

Only decrease in preheat temperature greater than 55degC is an essential variable as per ASME Sec.IX and hence revise the WPS to indicate preheat min 95degC without any need for qualifying PQR and perform welding.

Thanks & Regards

Dear

can you please provide me with a reference.
And preheat is not mentioned in WPS.

Just revise the WPS to include higher Preheat without qualifying the PQR.

Pwht is governed by the pressure part, not by the support. If the support is welded on a pressure part which must be pwhted then this weld will be pwhted
