Its not preheating.Its baking.Its required.Follow as per manufacturer guidelines.

These electrodes are basic coated.
And hygroscopic in nature...

Dear Ali,

The term 'baking or drying' is used for heaing of the electrodes before starting welding.

You have to refer Manufacturer's recommendations & ASME Section II Part C for reference.

Baking or not depends on the kind of coating (in case of covered electrodes)
