Multiple welders on single production joint

Dear experts,

I have a query n looking  for earliest  response
I had welders qualified on 1/2" OD with 7.46mm thk
Now we had a production joint of 2" OD with 8.75mm thk, which is required  to be    done with full tig

Now the question is, Can we engage two 1/2" qualified welders to weld 8.75mm thk??
Is there any clause in sec.ix for having two welders on single production joint to cater excess thk??
Or should we go for separate qualification using 2 welders on single test cupon??
Plz update me the clause no. If it is allowed

Dear Prasad,

As per ASME Sec IX, Two welders can be used in single production joint full filling all other essential veriables as welder is qualified based on weld metal thickness not on base metal thickness.

Each welder can deposit maximum 7.46 mm only, which he qualified

You must have supporting WPS to weld 8.75 mm thk  with TIG.

Refer QW 306 and QW 351. 

You check client specification for any specific requirements
