  Dear experts,

I have qualified PQR of Thickness-6mm (P8G1) Austenitic stainless steel, & What is the minimum and max.thickness qualified  as Per QW-403.6.in WPS (for Impact).

Hi,
In your case it is 6mm thickness, Minimum qualified thickness is 3mm and maximum is 12 mm

As per QW-403.6, minimum base metal thickness qualified is T/2 i.e. 3mm & max. thk qualified is 2T i.e. 12 mm

Hi Dears,

could you explain another also in QW 403.6 says (This variable does not apply when a WPS is qualified with a PWHT above the upper transformation temperature or when an austenitic or P.no.10H material is solution annealed after welding)

Dear Sir, 

For the condition with impact testing,

The minimum thickness requirement is as per ASME BPVC Sec IX is 3 mm. 

The maximum thickness as per ASME BPVC Sec IX is 2T

But the maximum thickness as per ASME B 31.3 is T+6mm.

As per QW-403.6 thickness limit will be 3 to 12 mm.
But in yours case what is the MDMT?

Our MDMT is -45 degree

For P No. 8 impact test is not required for MDMT Minus 45 deg. C. It’s client requirement??
