ASME B 31.3, PWHT Requirement for Brach Connection

Dear Experts,

Requesting to clarify the PWHT requirement of below noted branch connection.

Weld Joint Details:

Header pipe to weldolet without reinforcement.

Material : P1

Header Pipe : 8" x 22.23 mm

Weldolet : 2" x 11.07 mm

How to calculate the Nominal Thickness (Tm) & the Requirement of PWHT

Thanks for your reply.

My case the illustration is figure 328.5.4F (d)

PWHT Thickness is Tm + tc

Tm - Nominal thickness of the branch weld not specified by the manufacturer.

Please explain, How I will calculate the same.

tc will be considered as 6 mm.

Check with your Piping designer or piping engineer who have specalized software to guide with the thicknesses.
