DENSITY OF RT FILM

Dear experts

    while doing film interpretation, which all area need to be checked for density with densitometer? spec says 1.8 to 3.5, is it only for weld area or also for entire area of film? 

please clarify with  which code,

Hi senthil,

You just need to checked the area of concern weld only. Any defect withing the weld area will be consider as film defect as Reshoot or weld defect in case of reject or accept within limitations.

Area of interest should be weld and HAZ, density must be acceptable for both areas.

You need to check density on IQI..from that reading you get tolerance of plus 30% and  minus 30%. Minimum 1.8 and maximum 4 (For Xray).

Suppose you get density on IQI as 2.1 then add 30%  and minus 15%; your range will be 1.8 to 2.73%.

Density of all areas of interest shall be within that range. 1.8 to 2.73 ( not 4).
