Hydrotest after Addl. Nozzle provision

Dear Members,

We have constructed API 650 storage tank (28m Dia x 16.5m HT), hydro test, painting and calibration has been completed. But now client requires additional 10" nozzle in the tank. 

If i provide 10" nozzle now, whether i have to do hydro test again or pneumatic test is sufficient. If so, please let me know the clause with Ref. Std.

Kindly suggest me.

only non-structural small attachments may be welded to the tank in accordance with 7.2.1.12 after hydro static test

Dear kishor,

Hydrotest condition for the tank made up by API 650 is the requirements of carring out major repair means minimum 12 inch nozzle replacement or addition under the working height of liquid.
It means you don't have to do Hydrotest just do the pneumatic at 15 psig for reinforcement pad.

This clause is in API 653 not in API 650.

As adding/replacing 10” nozzle is not a major repair so no engineering evaluation is required but please refer 12.3.2 of API 653 Addendum 2012 of fourth Edition for more details.
