Wps clarifications-Reg

Dear sir,

I am having Two clarifications In welding.Kindly clarify the same.

1. Including angle 60deg (groov weld butt  joint)already we are having wps and pqr. For 45deg Angle with backing plate seperate wps required or not.

2. Tensile and bend test will be done along with backing strip or withoout backing strip.

Bevel angle, backing for SMAW Process is not a essential variable for WPS , so no need new WPS.

Please check your client specification  for restrictions on belvel anges and backing. (there are some client specifications (Like Shell DEP/IOGP etc..)  where angle tolerances are provided to have better control )

if a qualified PQR without backing and single side weld , no need for new qualification as per ASME Sec IX .  it depends on how u qualified your PQR check and prepare WPS, submit it  for your client approval before proceeding.
