Dear Expert,

Can anyone share or explain how to calculate Bruscato X factor for Gr.22 grade especially on welding consumable chemical composition.

Mind sharing any supporting document or article on how to calculate X factor.

In my knowledge, X factor is trace elements which usually not guaranteed by manufacturer and it’s unintentionally added such as Sn, Sb, As etc.

Best regards,
Pravin

X-factor is a calculation, or formula, that measures a weldment's resistance to temper embrittlement, a brittleness or loss of toughness that occurs when the weldment is held (or slowly cooled) through a temperature range of approximately 850 to 1,100 degrees F.04-May-2010

Bruscato X factor (2).

J=(Mn + Si)(P + Sn) x104 (in wt %), has been applied to parent steels and

weld metals.

X=(10P + 5Sb + 4Sn + As)/100 (in ppm), is applied to weld metals.
