Impact test requirement for P.No.1.

Dear All,


Please provide ASME sec IX interpretation/clause to solve the below issue.

Backgorund:

Base metal-1 thk : 40 mm (IS 2062 Gr.B)
Base metal -2 Thk : 3 mm (IS 2062 Gr.A)

Filler wire : ER70S-6 (1.2 mm)
Gas : Co2.

Question : Base metal and deposited weld metal thickness range for the above combinations (Impact test is required) ?.

Impact test is not a requirement related to material or thickness or welding process or something like those.
It's your design code/Spec., which have to mention this requirement.
