Dear Experts,

Please find the attached picture for your deep & clear interpretation. After welding I have found a few transverse cracks along the weld. What could be the reason behind this? Kindly do technical advice or prevention for my understanding.

The material spec is SS201.

Is it a Material defect or a Crack formed due to welding?

Crack induced after a few days of welding not during welding & after immediate welding.

Kindly note that the pipe was formed/developed from the plate by the cold rolling.

Your advice & comments will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kind Regards,

is this longitudinal weld ?

This may be stress corrosion crack
* stresses from plate rolling and thermal weld stresses
* corrosion as it is appear in photo ( black spots ) and may be used tools containing halides ( marking colors ) .
* annealing after welding is very effective solution for reducing the tendency of stress cracking
* pickling did after welding ?

Best Regards ,
