Hi,

We have qualified WPS as per ASME SEC IX for material IS 2062 E250 material , now we want to weld material IS2062 E350 material, Can we use the same WPS ?

as IS 2062 E250 - Tensile strength - 410 MPA &
IS2062 E350 - Tensile strength - 490 MPA

Please suggest your views.. Urgent.

Dear,

If you have qualified a base metal in a particular tensile strength, with a PNo. Then a metal with the same P No but higher tensile is not possible to weld. Your WPS cannot guarantee that weld is safe at higher tensile strengths.

Hope this helps

IS 2062 E250 - Tensile strength - 410 MPA &
IS2062 E350 - Tensile strength - 490 MPA

The criterion is not only the Tensile strength, but also the metallurgical similarity, that is the reason why the P Numbers exist, but These materials do not have P Numbers assigned, see Table QW-422.
Saludos!

E350 is unassigned. U can not use the same WPS which u are using for E250 which has got assigned Pno 1. Filler material will match E350.

IS2062 E250 is assigned to P-No1, Grp No 1 (see Non Mandatory App. D of the Section IX)
However, there is no P-No assigned to E350, so  you need a new PQR
