During GTAW welding, filler wire in small bits gets dislodged from the main stem, falls 

back un-fused at the root. 

They call it as an un-melted filler wire or filler cut. This could happen,

1. If the welder uses reduced gap or un-focused arc, filler wire overheats, cut off from 

    the main stem un-melted and gets lodged at the root.

2. This can also happen if the welder uses more current or increased travel speed or the 

    arc gap is more.

3. It is considered as a defect and repaired.
