Query related to WPS

Dear Sir,

If P number of material 1 & group number 1 & 2 is mentioned in WPS.While supporting relevant PQR is P number 1 & group number only 2. In this case,Will WPS be valid for relevant PQR.

Please advise us .

Yes, it is correct, for non impact applications. When impact requirement applies, group number becomes essential.

For your question 

Yes, a WPS is valid based on mentioned PQR as per ASME- IX code.

Because only P number essential variable and group number is not essential variable.

Dear Sir,

With ref.. to the trailing email,P number is essential & Group number is supplementary variable,When impact value is required group number becomes essential. As per attachment of WPS & PQR  impact value is required at Heat affected zone.In this case,how will attached  PQR (P  number 1 & group number 2) be valid for P number 01 Group number 1 & 2.Pl advise me on this concern.

Dear Mr. Manish,

As in this case , you have the impact test requirement, then two separate PQRs shall be required for..

P.No 1, Gr.No 1 to P.No 1, G.No 1

P.No 1, Gr.No 2 to P.no 1, G.No 2

QW-403.5 states..

 

If materials differ only by group number (SAME P-number) and all other essential and supplementary essential variables are the same for two PQR’s joining one group number to itself and the second group number to itself, then the dissimilar group number combination is considered to be qualified. So you can use these PQRs to qualify WPS for P.No 1 Gr.No 1 to P.No 1 to G.No 2.

Dear manish,

Material in whichever mention in PQR is  A/SA–516 70 K02700 70 (485) 1 2 101 100 11.1 C–Mn–Si Plate this is under P1G1.

maybe it was a typing error in WPS, in this case Group number is not countable.
