Hi,
I am working in pipeline project API1104.
I heve one speciemen breaks on the weld in tension test for mechanized welding operator with filler metal and the tension strength was greater the SMTS.

pls advise what we should do in this case?

Hi

There is nothing to do. The test is accepted.

if the breaking  tensile strength is more than the base metal, then no problem
In PQR , write that "Fracture in Weld "
that's all

As per API 1104, in addition to tensile strength ( If breaks in weld with strength greater than base metal), u have to check the requirement of soundness of weld. say gas pocket should not be greater than 1.6mm, slag inclusion less than .8, in depth, and not more than 3mm or one half the nominal wall thickness in length. atleast 13mm separation in between slag, if above requirments  are met, then it is acceptable
